The National Radio and Television Administration has released the 2025 Micro-Drama Spring Festival Recommendation List, marking the 8th such list within the past year and solidifying the industry’s consensus on “seasonal programming.”
Highlights at a Glance
Separate Lists for TV and Online Platforms
TV Broadcast: 14 micro-dramas will air on major regional channels in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Hebei, and other areas, focusing on quality rebroadcasts like Douyin hit “The Big New Year.”
Online Platforms: 49 micro-dramas will debut on platforms such as CCTV Video, Tencent Video, Douyin, and others, showcasing fresher content.
Reality-Based Stories Dominate, Originals Shine
Original reality-themed dramas are on the rise, while reliance on adaptations from long-form dramas and films is declining, highlighting the industry’s creative innovation.
Balance Between Short and Medium-Length Dramas
With 23 dramas under 5 minutes and 26 over 5 minutes, the list demonstrates an equilibrium, breaking the trend of merely extending episode lengths.
